Healthy Meals for Preschoolers

Everyone fancies their kids to be healthy and bright. A diet rich in all the required minerals, nutrients, and other essential constituents is imperative to a child’s holistic development. Kids are indeed fussy & picky eaters. This means they tend to eat selectively from the dish presented or might not even at all. Their tendency to deny consuming certain food items by disapproving expressions is adorable. But don’t let that enchant you every time since what’s a pre-requisite is that all those essential constituents reach that little tummy of your kids’. Usually, parents stress over meeting their kids’ nutritional requirements in the growing years.

Not to worry now since we have a list of some miraculous wholesome food items that your kids are going to love!

The ‘Desi’ Sandwiches:

Who doesn’t fancy a scenario where the kids open up their steel tiffins to discover those deliciously inviting sandwiches stuffed inside! This is the most common imaginative experience one recalls when asked about a school tiffin. The desi touch involves filling the sandwiches with chutneys, pickles, and healthy veggies. Kids love to munch on these delicacies. Add some paneer and oh my god, did you just salivate?

 

Aloo ka paratha:

No need for an introduction for the king. A Punjabi household with muscular men eating parathas topped with butter, bedazzled by its aroma is a pure reflection of affection. Parathas made with the least amount of oil served with chilled yoghurt or pickle are sure to be devoured by almost anyone.

Kids particularly enjoy it with thick cream or a knob of unsalted homemade butter.

 

Idli:

These alien spacecraft-shaped white eatables taste good even stand alone. Though usually eaten with accompaniments, sambhar, chutney or honey drizzled over it. A mild dish for kids that they would love to eat, be as breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

 

Curd Rice:

Comfort defines this delicacy, Why? One doesn’t have to get into much hassle even while preparing let alone eating it. Presented mostly along with pickle, chutney, or lentils but let me tell you a secret, Kids love it plain!

 

Dhokla:

Though it may seem like a bomb’s name, it is not. Native to Gujarat, this snack is loved all over India. Served with tamarind or mint-coriander chutneys, kids love this juicy feast to their stomachs.

 

Cheela:

Cheela

A name is common in almost every household. This forms a great breakfast for kids and serves as an accompaniment to almost any gravy dish. Mostly made from moong dal but can be made from different grains too. Simply roll it, put some ketchup aside and let your child eat it while he/she plays!

 

Rajma Chawal:

Rajma Chawal

A wholesome food item, prominent on the hills. Quick to provide energy, no wonder a favourite among trekkers. Serve it as lunch on a lazy afternoon and your child is sure to sleep like a baby later. It’s mild enough to be eaten by your young ones who in particular enjoy it with ‘Kachumbar salad’.

 

Mutter Mushroom:

Matar Mushroom

Mushrooms are love. Served as a dish cooked with peas, sure of making your kids bubbly and healthy. A tasty, wholesome meal which in actuality takes a few minutes to cook. Rich in protein aids muscle development.

 

Chicken Tikka:

Tikka is defined as bits and pieces. Super easy to prepare where chicken chunks are marinated in savoury spices and grilled thoroughly on skewers. Non-vegetarians are crazy behind the very of the dish and feast on it with utmost delight. A rich source of protein never fails to deliver an unmatched taste.

 

Fish:

‘Eat fish if you want to have keen eyesight, a common phrase that almost every one of us must have heard from our elders. Rich in vitamin A and protein, one of the most healthy foods crucial for growth. Easy to the batter, fried fish is prepared to complement the main course.

 

Eating healthy aids growth and development, both on a physical and mental level. Eating healthy directly impacts thinking and mental levels. A child who doesn’t eat properly is irritable and cries mostly. On the other hand, a child who eats the right amount of essentials is seen to be bubbly, confident, and always smiling. To sum it up, it’s all connected. It’s nothing like that your child needs to be only fed what’s healthy, a segregation has to be made what the kid doesn’t eat at a particular age but will adapt to it in future. Parents need to be very careful with taking baby steps in making their kids accustomed to a variety of food items. Also, once in a while junk foods don’t do any harm. Provide the right amount of spinach to your young popeye and see him growing strong both on the inside and the outside!
