Starting a Preschool
New knowledge builds upon pre-existing knowledge, something that has been rightly stated. This is why having a foundation is pivotal in every realm. It’s given that one acquires knowledge through self-experience and guidance. Providing kids with a balance in sports and academics is what an interview with Ms. Divya, Director & Principal of Insignis Transnational School, Hyderabad revealed.
She initially started her Preschool roughly six years back, and now it has been extended up to the primary level. Her passion and love for children motivated her to take up this venture. Out of her commitment not to compromise on quality and standards, the school has seen tremendous growth. There has been a constant upliftment in terms of finances, logistical, classroom, and overall ambiance. The initial difficulties in the process were in financing. Starting a school without a heavy capital though being tough, was supported by family.
Ms Divya strongly recommends that while building up from scratch, one should share his knowledge & experience with the other people involved. This forms the ground matrix since collaborative efforts always work well. The thing that counts the most is being passionate about it, thinking it just as another business venture won’t lead to any overall growth.
She also states that sport is crucial for a child. It helps one attain holistic development, at the same time developing proper control and coordination. A child developing academically requires the proper development of gross and fine motor skills. It’s like everything is connected. For one area to work properly, the others need to work & develop properly too. She recounts that since the very day ‘Fun Day’ was incorporated into the curriculum, the kids loved it. They would get excited on the planned days, which enhanced their working efficiency & grasping power too. It was not only sports but a lot of physical activities structured with utmost accuracy. It resulted in better control over muscles and incorporation of values like teamwork, collaborative work, empathy, care & discipline.
She briefs that parents, too, should be informed about the collaboration between sports and academics. Most parents are not aware that the nexus of physical and mental well-being starts from the very grass-roots levels. The misconception that a kid at earlier stages should learn academically and then move on to sports later must be broken.
She commends Mr. Gaurav Oswal, Founder of Go Alpha Kids, who made her familiar with Fun Days.’ She recalls that he would discuss with her what the children usually require at such a young age. He would later design beautifully, Fun days filled with a variety of activities that even suited the old premise of the Preschool. His presence on Sports Days was delightful as he would look around the kids enjoying themselves thoroughly. Overall, she regarded the development of a child holistically depending on both the parents and the institution imparting so and not individually on either of them. Every child is unique; so many activities in different realms help them find their spark to further build upon and shine.
