Make your preschool go digital !

Our current COVID times have disrupted the preschool industry completely. With stay-at-home orders closing preschool buildings across India these are difficult times for early childhood educators who promote play or project-based approaches. A lot of preschools have now been running the classes online for a few months.

Here is a simple checklist for preschool owners if the teachers have done these things for your preschool’s online classes.

Social quotient
One of the major reasons for which kids are sent to preschool is social interaction with other kids. Teachers should promote interaction between children. You can schedule a time before the class or after the class for kids to interact and connect with each other.

Physical activity
Physical development is key during this stage. And in the absence of it, kids are not sleeping very well or eating very well, either. Assign one of the teachers to take Yoga or some other physical activity. There are vendors like Go Alpha which make that happen in a structured manner for the kids.

Parents involvement
Parents for a major part of Digital learning. Keeping them involved is a very important part of Live classes. Teachers can also have small competition between the parents to keep them involved.Also ask parents to submit photos or videos of children’s play. The interest level increases when the video of the child is played for everyone.

Music is magical
Children respond well to singing and dancing online. For a child, participating in a song or dance is an easy way to engage with a screen because they can follow the leader.

Events
One day in a week can be a special day. Example – Every Saturday can be a day for celebration / special day. Working parents are also FREE on Saturday and can be a part of their child’s development process.
Also, seminars and special people can be invited to take sessions on this particular day.

Digital content
Online learning tools increase the level of children’s engagement with materials through the use of video content, Photo, and other media. There are likely teachers who are tech-savvy. Lean on them for their creativity. Taking your school online is a collective effort—any idea is worth trying.
